Creative Clubs

Newer clubs offer students more opportunities

S.O.A.R

The S.O.A.R club, Supporting Others Arise Radiantly, advocates for mental health and was started to give students a positive safe space and help create a community that lifts people up.

Senior president Kyle Tran views the club as a student support system and prides it as a way to de-stress students from busy schedules.

“This is a nice, easy community and you don’t have to stress too much,” Tran said. “Other clubs, like NHS and Key Club, have requirements that can be overwhelming; this is the opposite of that.”

S.O.A.R meetings are held in the library after school, usually the first Monday of every month. During this time, members learn practices and strategies to help with their mental health, such as brainstorming strategies to relax or making a list of goals.

“It’s a come as you please type of thing,” junior board member Abigail Rauchfleish said.  “You’re not obligated to come to any more meetings than you want to.”

Craft Club

A new addition to the club roster, Craft Club, was founded by junior Paige Milot, who wanted to find a group of like-minded people interested in making creative projects.

“I decided to make a club to allow people to let their imagination flow,” Milot said. “It’s a good place to go to after school and just relax before you go home and do homework.”

Club meetings are held in Rm. 221 on most Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4 p.m. The club seeks more members who are current artists, crafters or individuals looking to learn.

”I encourage everyone to come,” Milot said. “You don’t even need to be someone really creative.”
