“The mission trip I took to the Dominican Republic is a life experience that’s changed me. I left for the trip July, summer of 2016, at 3 a.m., with the church I attendwhich is First Baptist Rochester. When I went down there, we started working on building a school for the kids who can’t go to school. Also, I helped with the clubs. We created and interacted with the kids. They were really excited about that, because someone just playing or having fun with them made their day. It’s easy for me to talk to people I have nothing in common with. I could use this talent to build relationshipseven though we spoke different languages. This experience taught me that loving is a choice and so worth it. “

“The winter of my sixth grade year, some of my friends and I went sledding around a pond in the subdivision . My cousin’s friend slid down and hit a ramp, then crashed into the water and he couldn’t get out, so my cousin ran over to pull him out; I saw my cousin struggling and about to fall in, so I went over and helped pull the both of them out. I’d have to say it did change me in a way. Also, I received an award at my elementary school, later that year, from the Macomb Police Department for helping save their lives.”

“Giving to people and making their lives better is important, I also get involved in the community with my family. At my church, we run a community cupboard; which was a pantry that provided food to people who can’t afford or don’t have any. It’s a lot of work to keep it up and running, but because of my family and friends of the church it was possible.”
