Two plays with a twist

Theater and drama department director Dave Springer is responsible for choosing the play each year.

I like the two styles. I was looking at one act plays by the same author and those went well with each other,” Springer said.

This is the first time that the theater department will perform two plays instead of one. Both plays fall under the comedic southern melodrama genre.

“Two different stories with similar settings we even put our own twist in the end where the stories intertwine,” Springer said.

Having two plays comes with it own challenges. Not only is there stress on the actors and actresses but also on the director according to junior Elizabeth Mcconkie.

“It’s challenging, but I like the new experience,” said sophomore Alexis Cunningham. “It gives the audience a new outlook.”

The majority of the cast in the first play will have a different role in the second play. They will have new scripts to memorize on top of the scripts that they already have.

“There’s going to be a special surprise at the end” Springer said. Bringing the suspense and excitement for the two plays.
