Forget leisurely getting ready for the homecoming dance. The Men & Women’s Cross Country teams woke to early morning alarm clocks and stepped into their running shoes.

The Cross Country team met at Stoney Creek’s Bay Point beach at 8:30 a.m. The Women’s Varsity team raced at 10:00 and the Men’s Varsity followed 45 minutes after. The gun shot off at 11:30 a.m. for Women’s JV and the Men’s JV started running at 12:15. This left all members approximately four hours to transform themselves for homecoming.

All team members had to be present for this meet because it launched the championship portion of the season. Awards were handed out around 1 p.m., including the academic awards presented to the top 21 runners who held a 3.5 G.P.A or higher and finished within the top 50 percent of their varsity races.

“My day was so rushed with my race in the morning and getting ready was crazy,” Women’s JV Cross Country runner Dayna Jones said. “But once we started taking pictures I had so much fun and it was all worth it in the end.”
