Women’s volleyball team gains new support
“Go Eagles, go Eagles go!” Ready to show their support, the self-named “God Squad” is a new student section at the womens varsity volleyball games who yell echo-off-the-wall chants.
“The God Squad got started at the game against Marysville when one of the volleyball players asked me to go, so I went with one of my friends. We met up with two other friends when we were at the game, so I am one of the originals,” senior Nikoll Gjonaj said.
The squad started with 15 students, mostly seniors. They attend games wearing t-shirts they made and new chants to help excite the girls for their game. “It’s fun [to go to every game] because it is senior year, and it gives something for me and friends to do,” senior Dino Raveane said.
The God Squad has grown by size 11 people since it first started at the first volleyball game. Every game, more people would come to support the girls.
“They really help our [volleyball] games because they provide a lot of energy, and they help hype us up for our games. They just make it fun because without people being there, it’s really not a game if no one is watching,” sophomore Kira Buza said.
