Students and board share thoughts over breakfast

This past Friday, students shared thoughts and a meal with the Utica Community Schools’ Board of Education.

“I’m excited to go because it seems like quite an honor if there was only eight people invited,” senior Eric Brunk said.

Forty students sat down with the UCS board members at the annual Board of Education Breakfast on Friday, Dec. 6 to discuss their views on the district’s high schools. Students were nominated by teachers to attend based on their varying activities within the school.

“It’s an important event because it gives students the opportunity to talk to board members about what’s going on in high school,” Principal Nannette Chesney said. “It also gives board members the opportunity to talk to students. Some have younger children, so they get more experience with high school.”
