Every year, a senior picnic is held to celebrate the seniors’ last day; this year it is being held on May 21.
“I expect to see a lot of people that haven’t really interacted before, interacting, kind of like all of the seniors melding together, the groups dissolving and mingling with one another. It’s actually something that I’ve hoped to see throughout the rest of senior year and I’m only starting to see now,” senior Random Meyers said.
The picnic is meant to be a way for the seniors to say goodbye to friends and staff. There will be activities such as a dunk tank, slide, gladiator jousts and music. They are looking for volunteers to chaperone, work security and run games. Donations are welcome and are one of the reasons this event can happen every year.
“Seniors enjoy the picnic so much because it’s one last hoorah for students,” senior picnic organizer Jennifer Ramirez said.
This year, there will be a foam pit with soap bubbles. Students are supposed to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. There will also be obstacle courses, bounce houses, a soccer arena, corn-hole and food.
“The senior picnic is the one last time, in school, to say goodbye to your high school friends,” Ramirez said.
