NHS inducts 143 new students
A total of 143 students walked across the stage on Oct. 29 being inducted into National Honor Society (NHS).
“I was excited to be inducted into NHS tonight because my older sisters were all in this club,” junior Alaina Goodman said. “It seems like a good way to help out the community with your friends.”
The ceremony recognized all of the juniors and seniors with a 3.5 GPA or higher, and most importantly the leadership of the students. Before inductees were officially added into NHS, the executive board presented their speeches on the four pillars of the society: leadership, character, scholarship and service.
“My vision as the new head of NHS is to make it not just about community service,” Chapter Advisor Shane Smith said, “I want the kids to enjoy helping others in their community not because they are required to, but because they want to.”
