When one person donates blood it is enough to save three people’s lives.

“It’s a safe space to be a first time blood donor and if it’s a good experience then people are more likely to become donors as a lifetime commitment,” key club adviser Linda Craun said.

The fall blood drive happens on Thurs., Oct. 18 in the PAC lobby. Appointments can be made during all lunches or by scanning the QR code on the posters. Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To participate you must be 17-years-old, or 16-years-old with a signed permission slip, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.

“The blood need is always great in Southeast Michigan,” Craun said. “We have some of the premier hospitals in the Great Lakes region and so our need for blood is quite large compared to other rural communities so students can really make a big difference.”
