24 Mile Construction Concludes

Motorists can finally breathe a sigh of relief and drive freely after a year-long traffic jam –
construction work at the intersection of 24 Mile Road and Van Dyke ended on November 2nd.
“When I go to leave after school, the traffic caused by the construction on 24 Mile is always heavy. It
makes everybody stressed and it’s a huge mess,” senior Mallory Hartman said. “I’m glad the cluster of
traffic will finally end.”
The repavement of the intersection lasted for an entire year, ending November 2nd, and caused
heavy traffic not only on 24 Mile Road and Van Dyke, but also on surrounding roads.
“It doesn’t affect my drive into school, but it affects my ability to quickly get supplies for my students
during the school day,” art teacher Jennifer Ramirez said.
Now that the construction work is over, motorists of Ike and beyond can look forward to a smoother
experience.
“I feel incredibly relieved the construction is ending,” Ramirez said. “The project’s completion will turn
a 25 minute route into a 10 minute route.”
