During the first half, senior outside defender Taylor Kastens crosses the ball into the 18 yard box. “We’ve had a rough start to the season but we have good team chemistry and work ethic,” Kastens said. “I believe by districts we will be a very hard team to beat.” The game ended 0-1, Stevenson taking the win.

The women’s varsity soccer team played their third game of the season on Wednesday at Swinehart field at 7 pm against Stevenson.

The game started quickly, senior captain Jillian Doss making two plays attacking the net.

At the 31 minute mark Doss shot the ball and hit the post. The ball then bounced off the opposing team’s goalkeeper and back to the post before it was finally retrieved.

Later in the half, Doss had another shot; the ball hit the football field goal above the net (signaling out of play) and hit the goal keeper in the back and rolled into the net. However, it was a no goal.

With two minutes left in the half, Stevenson scored off of a post rebound, making the score 1-0.

After the second half began, not much happened until two minutes were left in the game. Doss had another play, shooting the ball and hitting the crossbar, yet again.

The second half didn’t have much to offer. Each team battled constantly for the ball, neither side able to make a successful play.

Once the final whistle blew, Ike’s record changed to 0 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties.

The next game is scheduled for Monday, April 21 at Chippewa High School at 6:30 pm.
