Pretty and pink:
Glinda’s Pink Potion adds a bit of magic to one’s day.
The first satisfying sip perfectly combines the different ingredients in this make-shift potion. While the mango produces an almost tart taste, the dragon fruit brings in some sweetness and a bit of crunch to the drink’s otherwise creamy texture.Together these tropical flavors tasted refreshing.
The true icing on the cake, though, was the strawberry cold foam. It easily melted throughout the drink, giving it a creamy taste. Also, it paired well with the mango and dragonfruit. It tasted reminiscent of strawberry whip served with fruit trays which was a fun addition to this already delicious drink.
Visually, the drink represented Glinda with its vibrant colors. Its pinkness symbolized Glinda’s iconic wardrobe and the sprinkles on top were a fun touch. The foam also felt reminiscent of the bubbles or foaming at the top of a potion’s cauldron. And the pieces of dragon fruit represented ingredients in a potion.
This drink didn’t just visually represent Glinda, though. Its sweet flavors symbolized Glinda’s nice personna. Yet, its tart twist personified her secret mean streak.
Overall, this delicious drink made for the perfect tribute to Glinda.
Bold and bewitching:
If in need of a strong pick me up try Elphaba’s Cold Brew.
While the first sip is filled with peppermint the rest tastes more like black coffee than anything else. The peppermint is only a hint in the midst of the coffee’s bitterness. While more peppermint would have been appreciated, its lack of didn’t ruin the drink. However, it remains better suited for strong coffee lovers.
The matcha foam included didn’t mix well, sadly. It took a good shaking to disperse the earthy toned non-dairy cold foam. Do not use a straw when drinking or the matcha will seem nonexistent. It is unclear whether the match simply wasn’t strong enough or if it was just hard to taste since it didn’t blend well.
Compared to Glinda’s Pink Potion, it’s a simpler drink. Since Glinda’s included so many ingredients it was a nice break to drink a more understated beverage. Especially since the cold brew and peppermint paired well, anything else would have thrown off the drink’s balance.
Not only did this coffee balance its flavors well, but also represented its inspirer. Elphaba’s bold personality is well captured in this strong coffee. It’s also visually captivating since the green trickles downwards. The cute green sprinkles were also a nice touch.
Elphaba’s Cold Brew is definitely worth a stop at Starbucks.
