Dena Trendov, Staff Writer

Hi, my name is Dena Trendov. I’m 15 and a sophomore this year. My parents are immigrants from Macedonia, so I’m bilingual. I’m a staff writer and this is my first year in journalism. I’ve also taken a photography class and have some Photoshop experience. I love reading, writing, listening to music and playing video games. Plus, I’m on the swim team.

Working on a paddleboard, seniors Austin Vandenbrink and Michael Ammori add finishing touches to the paint. “I love the class; it's a lot of fun. It gives you the freedom to do what you want, but you have to actually do something. You don't just get to free roam and not do anything,” Vandenbrink said. Students finished up their boards in class.

Standing in the rain, sophomore Madailein Elton watches the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. “We went to see the changing of the guard and it absolutely just started pouring. We all got completely soaked; that was an experience,” Elton said. Students returned to the hotel and changed out of their wet clothes before continuing on to see the White House and Newseum.
