Knack for black

Students wear black and represent our school spirit

Suited up in black. Participating in this year’s blackout, junior Ryan Shaw wears all black. Shaw wanted to get together with those who also took part and compared it to Halloween. “To get together with each other, like Halloween, so that you and your friends get together and hang out with the people wearing black,” Shaw said.

Laundry day! On Thursday Sept. 21, sophomore Issa Dababneh participates in “anything but a backpack” spirit day with his laundry basket. Dababneh decided to bring a basket because he wanted to join in on school spirit. “The event was really fun, to be honest, because I got to hang out with other friends who contributed,” said Dababneh.
A rebellious spirit
Behind the scenes. Student council poses for a group photo after preparing for the homecoming pep rally. Summer preparations and bi-weekly meetings brought the board game themed homecoming week together.
Not all fun and games
Look out for fun spirit. In the commons sophomore Claire Gifford shows school spirit in everything but a backpack day. For spirit week, she participated because it makes the week fun and is important. “I brought my sister’s Zuca bag and it’s for ice skates,” Gifford said.
Cat carriers, laundry baskets, ice skates oh my
Grab that western gear. Taking advantage of the last year to participate in spirit week, seniors Leah Yancy and Addison Mondoux put their best western outfits on. Yancy wanted to make sure she didn’t miss out and got out her cowgirl accessories. “It's my senior year and I thought why not go all out for all of the spirit days. It's one of the last times we get to do it,” she said.
Wild wild western day
Watch out! Getting pushed in a shopping cart, officer Lauren Weiss makes her way through the commons during anything but a backpack spirit day. Weiss believes participating in spirit days is important, since you only get four years of highschool. “I felt like a superstar, I was waving and everyone was waving back and taking pictures. It was a cool moment,” Weiss said.
Coolers and classwork
Ride on! Sitting on a mechanical bull during C lunch, sophomore Ashlynn Sakofske participates in western day. “I wish they would have the bull rides every week,” Sakofske said. She liked getting dressed for western day because she thought her outfit was cute.
