Deck the Halls. As one of the ways to gather funds for the Toys4Tots fundraiser, junior and StuCo member Raiha Khan collects donations in a festive Christmas themed jar during passing time. “Being a first-year Student Council member I am excited to take this approach towards raising money for a good cause,” Khan said.

A little boy anticipates the jingle bells from Santa’s sleigh when he runs to the door, but instead he sees his father, exhausted from the night shift with no gifts to give.

During the month of November up to December 2nd, Student Council members will be collecting money in Christmas jars from students, as well as teachers in their classes and during passing time to raise money for Toys 4 Tots, bringing joy to families who are struggling financially. Each member of Student Council is required to get a minimum of $5. The money collected from the jar campaign will be included with the telethon donations. The telethon occurs on December 2nd.

The donations will be given to Toys 4 Tots, a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve in which they will distribute toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas .

“I feel grateful for helping families in need because we don’t see the people who are struggling, being able to help is very rewarding,” said Student Council secretary senior Amela Halkic. “It makes me feel more grateful for what I have.”

Student Council is hoping to gather funds to bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children. They are encouraging Eisenhower students and teachers to donate to the cause.
