Pursuing his role as Ichabod Crane in the fall play ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’, senior Camran Grayson lives up to expectations as he embodies the character of Crane and immerses himself in the world of theater production.
“Being the lead character means a lot of it’s on your shoulders. Memorizing all those lines, being in every scene and just his whole attitude about theater shows how much he loves it. He’s awesome. He’s so much fun and a very talented actor. He is pretty much a bright spot in our theater program,” theater director Eric Wells said.
Grayson started his acting career when he first saw the play ‘Hamilton’. He then went on to act in small character roles that introduced him to the theater world.
“When I saw ‘Hamilton’ for the first time, I really enjoyed it. I really wished that was me which made me want to start acting,” Grayson said.
Watching movies, recording and writing lines helped Grayson with embodying his character.
“I would read my lines until I could look up and say them and then I would just keep on going after that. I had so many lines to memorize, so I had to find ways to get them memorized,” Grayson said.
Grayson came up with creative ways to learn choreography and ways around the set which showed his friends and staff how dedicated he was.
“I thought he did amazing with the acting for his character. You really thought that he was the teacher with knowing his lines and performing great,” sound director junior Alexis Bargowski said.
The fall play focused on acting as well as having fun. The nerves and the anticipation of the play means that you’re doing something right, according to Grayson.
“These memories move fast and the fun won’t last for long,” Grayson said. “I think that I should always cherish the moments that I had with my friends and my comrades and continue to have fun while I do theater.”
