Battle of the bands

UCS bands gather on Sunday to perform

UCS bands will perform during the annual Band-A-Rama at Swinehart field. Tickets cost $5 at the gate.

BUM DA DUM DUM. The sound of the four Utica Community Schools’ bands performing fills the air at Swinehart fields, Sunday, Oct. 10.

“I’m very excited for the performance,” senior color guard section leader Danielle Carlisi said. “I love seeing other marching bands perform; it really puts into perspective how much work goes into the different shows and all the creativity involved.”

Hosted by Utica High School, the four high schools: Henry Ford, Eisenhower, Stevenson and Utica will perform at the annual Band-A-Rama. Held at Swinehart on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased that night for $5. All the profits raised will go towards Louis Gonda Memorial scholarship fund. By attending, students are not only supporting the Eisenhower marching band, but also raise money to fund the scholarship.

“If they’re not in band, it’s a great way to get involved with the school,” Carlisi said. “So, students should go and see the marching bands perform because it’s a great way to show your support to the students involved in the programs, and it’s a really great way to get involved with your school.”
