Holiday events to enjoy safely with family and friends
Lights show in Westland:
Down in Wayne County, the light show brings a magical four and a half mile drive-through light show experience. They include many new displays this year along with 45 other animated theme displays. The new extended hours of the lightfest are Wednesday-Sunday from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. and go through Dec. 31. They’re closed Christmas day, though. The drive-through includes over one million lights and is the Midwest’s largest and longest lightshow located in Hines Park in Westland. Tickets cost $5 per car at the pay booth, $20 for a commercial van or limo, $25 for a mini-bus (20 passengers) and $50 for a bus (40+ passengers). Stopping on the side of the road is permitted when driving through the show, in order to take photos by the lights if desired.
Ray township Christmas tree lighting
Over in Ray township, a Christmas tree lighting takes place on Dec. 20 from 7-8:30 a.m. The lighting takes place at the Ray Township hall; cost is free for anyone who wants to come. They will provide hot cocoa and cookies. This event can bring holiday cheer to the family as the city welcomes the Christmas spirit with the tree lighting. Even though there’s not much to do these days, this is a great way to do something with family or friends and get out of the house.
Holiday market at Anton Art Center:
Over in Mount Clemens, a holiday market, taking place through the month of December, is open from Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. The holiday market was mentioned and shown of high value on Local 4 News and WXYZ. Cost is free to get in and shop. This is a great way to support the small business owners and shop some good holiday gifts. This year features handmade gifts and decor to shop from for this holiday season. Even if one needs to get out of the house, this is a great place to walk around and shop. Shoppers can shop online and in-person on the select days.
