This a top three rewind of “spook”-tacular Halloween movies that won’t leave one with nightmares
With the weather dropping and the leaves changing, now is the perfect time to cuddle up and get in the spirit of Halloween by watching a movie leaving viewers without nightmares.
It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Don’t want to watch a scary movie, but still want to get in the spooky spirit? “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is a great way to get in the Halloween mood without having to experience nightmares after watching.
Follow along the Peanuts crew as they trick or treat and watch out for the “Great Pumpkin.” Lasting a mere 25 minutes, “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is an excellent movie to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Don’t have enough time to watch over an hour-long movie? This is a great option when in a time crunch due to how long it is. This film is long enough to live out a whole plot line, but doesn’t end up boring the audience. To view the movie, one can rent it from or have a subscription to Amazon, iTunes, Youtube or Google Play. The movie offers a humorous relief when Charlie Brown receives rocks when trick-or-treating and when Linus wrote to the “Great Pumpkin.” This movie rates a five out of five stars on the “spook”-tacular Halloween scale.
Halloweentown
To witness more spooky creatures, “Halloweentown” offers amazing coverage of witches, skeletons and ghouls without leaving the audience with nightmares.
This film shows a 13 year-old girl named Marnie figuring out that she’s a witch; she follows her Grandma to Halloweentown only to figure out that her Grandma’s town is in despair. The movie follows along as Marnie and her family does everything possible to fix this spooky town. With “Halloweentown” being a Disney Channel Original, the acting sometimes doesn’t live up to the plotline, but that isn’t the case with this film. This movie can be watched on platforms, like: Amazon, Disney+, Youtube and Google Play. With a runtime of an hour and 24 minutes, this movie lasts the perfect amount of time where one doesn’t get bored halfway through. One downfall is the plot portrays a childish aspect not all will enjoy. But for those who do enjoy a somewhat nostalgic plot, three other movies are a part of this series to be enjoyed. Due to the childish plot, this movie rates a 4.5 out of five stars on the “spook”-tacular scale.
Hocus Pocus
If one wants a more in depth look at witches and unlucky black cats, “Hocus Pocus” is the film for them.
Bringing back many childhood memories, “Hocus Pocus” is a classic to get into the Halloween spirit. Break out the popcorn and candy corn with one’s family or friends to enjoy a cute movie most enjoy. This film lasts one hour and 36 minutes and can be watched on Amazon, Disney+, iTunes, Youtube and Google Play. The plot follows Max when he awakens three witches during Halloween night; Max and his friends need to stop these witches from terrorizing the town of Salem. With this being an older film, the quality isn’t the most eye-catching, which some many turn away from. Look past the quality of the film to enjoy a movie for the ages. This film rates three out of five stars on the “spook”-tacular cale since it’s an older movie.
Oftentimes, getting in the spirit of Halloween doesn’t require watching a scary movie that leaves nightmares for days to come. Instead, one can enjoy one of these timeless films that offer a scare-free aspect.
