Review: Green space cafe

The taste of healthy food, seeing a beautiful atmosphere and treated well is the insight at Green Space cafe.

Green Space Cafe is located 215 W Nine Mile Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220. The restaurant serves brunch, dinner and dessert from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays.

The history of the cafe is the founder, Joel Kahn, an M.D. with his background of health wanted others to learn more about healing power of plants. So, he decided to make an all vegan restaurant with his family.

The restaurant is very healthy due to all the vegan food ranging from quesadillas, burgers, Caesar salad and more. They even have very unique milkshakes to try, like vanilla lavender and chocolate raspberry.

The atmosphere of the place is very soothing, relaxing and has beautiful hanging lights. The music is played softly in the background. The restaurant looks small on the outside but actually very spacious inside.

The food was well presented; it was picture-worthy because of how amazing it looked. Ordering the quesadillas and the chocolate raspberry milkshake made a feeling of hesitancy on substituted dairy but it was actually outstanding. It didn’t feel too heavy after the meal which felt good. My family even said the vegan meat was tasty but different. The service was very nice since they always came and asked if the table is doing okay. It’s a great place to go to if have allergies and they really take care of you there.

On the downside, some of the options on the menu come in very small portions and it doesn’t feel like you ate enough. The parking is very limited, so if you go on weekends, go earlier in the day. Since it’s a bar as well, the drinks are more pricey than it would be in stores.

Overall, Green Space Cafe earns an 9 out of 10. It’s definitely a place to try unique, vegan food and to have a healthy experience.
