Billie Eilish and Jocelyn Drops Songs

Meaghan Murphy, Staff Writer

Like nothing heard before. Billie Eilish’s song “bury a friend,” and Jocelyn’s song “Speak Up” are a playlist must.

“Speak Up” by Jocelyn

Jocelyn is a new artist from Omaha, Neb. Her song “Speak Up” tells listeners not to let bullies get to them and be positive. She experienced bullying herself, making her song much more real and personal.

“Speak Up” gives off a country vibe in the instrumentals, but it’s faint. It’s the type of song that puts people in a good mood. When listened to, accomplishment is heard in her voice. Her voice and the song fit perfectly together. For anyone into pop music, this would be a considerable song to listen to.

“bury a friend” by Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish was born and raised in Los Angeles, Calif. “bury a friend,” her most recent song, is receiving mixed reviews, but it’s an interesting song that many people can’t help but listen to. The mixed reviews consist of people saying they don’t like the vibe it gives off. The song is catchy, to the point people find themselves randomly singing it during the day.

Her song is creepy and weird in the sense that it gives off an odd tone, yet it’s enjoyable. Billie Eilish has a large range of songs she sings and “bury a friend” expanded her range. It is assumed the song is about where you go when you’re asleep or when you’re dead. Eilish’s

songs are pop music, but this song has a different tone than what would usually be considered pop.

Both songs, “Speak Up” and “bury a friend” are unique. The mood of both songs represent their music style well. Billie Eilish is a popular singer with talent, and Jocelyn is a new artist that people should check out.
