Homemade slurpees

Banana Slurpee

2 Frozen bananas

10 Ice cubes

¼ cup Water

3 tablespoons- ¼ cup Agave nectar (more nectar, more sweet)

  1. Combine ingredients until smooth— like a slurpee

Pineapple Slurpee

2 cup Fresh pineapple

10 Ice cubes

4 tablespoons- ¼ cup Agave nectar (more nectar, more sweet)

  1. Combine ingredients until smooth— like a slurpee

Watermelon mint Slurpee

¼ Large watermelon

8 Ice cubes

3 tablespoons- ¼ cup Agave nectar (more nectar, more sweet)

5 sprigs mint

  1. Combine ingredients until smooth— like a slurpee

Kool-aid slurpee

1 Packet any Kool-aid flavor

2 cup Club soda

½ cup Sugar

2½ cup Crushed ice

  1. Add Kool-aid powder, sugar and 1 cup club soda into blender. Process until smooth— like a slurpee
  2. Add ice and blend until smooth
  3. Add remaining club soda and blend.
  4. Place in freezer 30-45 minutes to thicken.

Tie dye shoes

  1. Buy a pair of white shoes, like the Vans Authentic from vans.com for $45. Or a less expensive pair like the Luena Sneakers from target for $16.99.
  2. Mix about 1 ½ with 1 ½ gallon of water. Remove the laces from the shoes (if they have any) and soak them in the mixture for 30 minutes.
  3. Put on rubber or latex gloves then remove the shoes.
  4. Decide which colors will go on the shoes, be careful of colors that won’t mix well. (Like green and red mixing to create brown.) Once colors are determined buy the dyes or buy a tie-dye kit. Like the Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit from Michaels’ for $9.99
  5. If necessary, follow kit instructions to mix dyes in squirt bottles.
  6. Squirt dyes as desired onto shows, don’t over-do it. Spread the dye to give the tie dye effect.
  7. Place shoes in separate plastic bags to prevent dye from drying out, let them sit for 24 hours.
  8. Wash off shoes until water is clear to eliminate excess dye.
  9. Place shoes in sunny area and allow to dry for 24 hours.

Water balloon pinata

  1. Buy water balloons and fill 15 or more with water.
  2. Tie a string to the ends of the balloons.
  3. Tie balloons to a clothing line, the top bar of a swing set or a tree branch.
  4. Gather family members, grab a bat and start smacking the balloons.

Backyard movie theater

  1. Hang strings of lights to set the mood.
  2. Hang a white sheet from the side of your home to serve as the movie screen (or just use a plain white wall).
  3. Buy and set-up a projector.
  4.  Set up comfortable seating. Use cushions, blankets, chairs, bean bags or pillows.
  5. Make delicious treats. Like popcorn, bowls of candy or at home slurpees.

Lawn water slide

  1. Find or buy a tarp from a hardware store.
  2. Lay tarp down on ground with a slope.
  3. Turn on hose and set at highest point of the slope
  4. Blow up tubes or rafts and slide down.

Shaving cream twister

  1. Buy 5-10 cans of shaving cream.
  2. Buy blue, yellow, green and red food dye.
  3. Make equal amounts of blue, yellow, green and red shaving cream.
  4. Set up twister game (outside) and add shaving cream to corresponding colored dots.
  5. Spin the wheel and begin playing!
