Charity Games In Gym This Friday

This Friday, the school is holding this year’s charity events in the gym all day to raise money for the Cassie Hines Cancer Foundation.
The activities director Amber Bronson ensured the day is organized.
“During first hour, we are holding a pep assembly to recognize our sports groups and new student council members,” Bronson said. “Then through second and third hour, teachers and students play against each other in basketball. In fourth hour, students do free-throw competitions.”
The last two hours of the day are reserved for a type of volleyball dubbed “enhanced volleyball”.
“In enhanced volleyball, all participants use an exercise ball held over their heads to hit the ball,” Bronson said. “If the students can’t hit the ball with the exercise ball, then they will lose the point.”
To go down to the gym, students must pay a dollar for each hour. All of the proceeds go to the Cassie Hines Cancer Foundation, which financially assists young adults with cancer throughout treatment process.
“Cassie Hines was a junior here at Ike when she was diagnosed with cancer,” Bronson said. “She unfortunately passed away when she was just 21, and her family started the Cassie Hines Cancer Foundation in her memory. In the past, our biggest amount raised from this event was $3000. We’re hoping to raise even more this year.”
