Costumes on a budget

Don’t run to the closest costume store and spend loads of money on a boring, old Halloween costume. Try out one of these unique ideas and showcase a creative costume in just a few simple steps.

Stick figure:

Supplies:

-White long sleeve t-shirt

-White pants

-Black sharpie

-Black shoes

Become a stick figure in just a few simple steps. Take a white long sleeve t-shirt and white pants and use a ruler to draw a thick, black line down the front of the t-shirt. Draw arms down the sleeves of the shirt and legs down the pants. Use any pair of black shoes for feet.

Lego:

Supplies:

-Paint (any color)

-A box large enough to fit over one’s torso

-Plastic bowls or cups (same color as paint)

-Hot glue

Find a large box, big enough to fit over the torso. Trace circles onto the box for the arms, legs and head. Next, paint the entire box any color and wait for the paint to dry. Buy six plastic bowls (the same color as the paint on the box) and glue them face down, six inches apart onto the front of the box. The bowls should be glued in two vertical rows, with three bowls in each row.

Grapes:

Supplies:

-Red, purple or green t-shirt

-Black pants

-24 balloons

-Hot glue

-Safety pins

Purchase a purple, red or green longsleeve t-shirt and two dozen balloons the same color as the t-shirt. Blow up enough balloons to cover the shirt and carefully pin the ends of the balloons onto the shirt. Voila – a vine of grapes!

Jellyfish:

Supplies:

-A clear or white umbrella

-White streamers

-Hot glue

-White shirt

-White pants

To create the illusion of a jellyfish, buy a clear umbrella and paste white streamers around the rim of the umbrella. Swirl the umbrella around to experience the full effect of the costume. Don’t forget to dress in all white to blend in with the costume.

Domino:

Supplies:

– Black t-shirt

-Black pants

-White construction paper

-Hot glue

Cut out the desired number of white circles to act as dots on the domino. Also, make sure to cut out a white line to serve as the divider on the domino. Glue half the dots onto a black t-shirt and affix the white strip at the bottom shirt’s hemline. Use the remaining dots and glue them onto the legs of the pants.
