Throughout the month of November, Key Club and Environmental Club are working together to get donations for their canned food, clothing and shoe drive.
“Last year we worked with a local organization, but this year since we’re working with Key Club, we’re hoping that we can get more food so we can work with Forgotten Harvest,” senior president of Environmental Club Daniella Dordeski said.
Forgotten Harvest is an organization that collects canned food, boxed food and non-perishables. They pick up orders that have at least 200 pounds of canned food donations. Key Club works with the Kiwanis Club, an organization that collects used shoes from schools and businesses in the area.
“There’s a lot of shoes, so when they get shipped off there’s a truck that will come by for like 10,000 pairs of shoes,” Key Club adviser Linda Craun said.
There will be a collection box for gently used shoes in the front lobby and boxes for canned food and clothing in the commons. The clubs are working together to receive at least 200 pounds of food so Forgotten Harvest will be able to come and pick up the donations. The clothing donated will go to the Salvation Army.
“Key Club is a pretty big club,” Dordeski said. “So, we’re hoping that we can get more people to donate.”
