Yearbook year in review

Yearbook publications group won several individual awards for various yearbook spreads

Students from the yearbook publications won multiple awards from various respected organizations.

Three students from the yearbook staff won national awards including: third place performing arts spread (senior Alexis Urbano), honorable mention sports spread (senior Liliana Valenza) and third place performing arts spread (junior Claire Bemis).

“I just feel really honored to get an award for something that I really worked hard on,” senior social media manager editor Liliana Valenza said.

Students submitted their work to Quill and Scroll, an international journalism honor society that recognizes individual and group achievements. This is just one of several prestigious organizations that the publication groups submit their work to on the national level.

“I felt really accomplished because compared to my first year, I didn’t have as many awards and responsibilities compared to what I have now,” senior yearbook Editor-in-Chief Alexis Urbano said. ”It’s really rewarding to see all of my progress.”

The yearbook staff works hard year-long to create a book of memories that will last a lifetime. They work on strict deadlines and pour their hearts into every page to get the yearbook out to the student body in a timely manner.

“I’ve worked really hard and had to catch up since I joined late last year during second semester’’ junior photo editor Claire Bemis said, “It feels good knowing my work paid off.”
