Scale the sushi
Trying and rating sushi for the first time ever
Sushi has become quite the phenomenon over the past couple years and it was finally time to give it a try.
On a Friday night four students, seniors Ava Kaspari, Isabella Lumetta, Gabriella Gjonaj, and Olivia Donato, went to sample the uproaring Umi Sushi on 23 mile road.
After arriving at the restaurant, there was an awkward tension due to the environment. There was no formal greeting and they said to sit in the middle of the small restaurant.
After ordering beverages, we began looking through the menus. After settling upon which sushi we desired, we ordered.
Kaspari ordered a basic veggie roll with an avocado and ginger salad. Lumetta and Donato ordered a california roll with crab. Gjonaj ordered a spicy shrimp roll with miso soup.
The first impression when the sushi was brought to the table was the pleasant presentation of the plate. There was a good balance of rice in comparison to crab and vegetables.
The yum yum sauce, which is made out of mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, garlic and paprika, complimented the sushi very nicely; it provided extra flavor to the sushi.
The sushi was definitely a hit. The texture of the crab wasn’t too slimy as predicted but rather a good amount of tenderness. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. The sushi was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. Each bite was better than the last.
Although the environment of the restaurant wasn’t the best, the sushi made up for it. For next time, rather than sitting in, carryout would be a better option.
