Santa’s elves can’t span the shelves
Prepare early for gifts as people may not be able to get a present in time to present to loved ones and potentially a stranger
This year it’s not the grinch who stole Christmas, popular nick-nacks like games and toys may not be available so shop early.
Tis the season to be jolly, but what is the Christmas season without the Christmas gifts? As shops are running low because of the recent shipping shortage, which is bad for the fortunate but an icy snowball for the less fortunate, there needs to be someone who can help. Julie Yestrepsky is a Para-pro at Maple Lane Elementary who helps students and their families struggling to provide a merry Christmas by donating gifts, food, and kindness.
“I help manage the classroom and I’ll do whatever is needed to brighten the lives of these little ones,” Yestrepsky said.
Yestrepsky helps bring people together during what is going to be a very difficult year for all but, there are many ways to help. As gifts are scarce, it would be wise to pick up Christmas gifts before black Friday and consider picking up an extra gift for the less fortunate as helping a random stranger will lead to a happier Christmas as this year is about the spirit, not just the gifts.
While picking up gifts for loved ones and maybe a stranger, think about the places with popular gifts. Former Target employee Valeria Hernandez came with regards to her personal experience of this shortage and what people should expect.
“People can’t get their hands on certain toys as easily and that means we have been out of stock of things,” she said.
As funny as it sounds, a smile and a hug can make someone’s day as long as they’re comfortable with it. Sophomore Anthony Behnam displays how Christmas should be.
“It’s really fun and nice to hang out with my family all together in one place,” he said.
Ike is a place of wonders as we are all families from different families who all share different traditions and values with one thing for certain, we all deserve a Christmas memory.
