NHS Mentors reach out to sophomores

To offer support to struggling students, National Honor Society initiated a mentor program.

“Even if we are only able to help a few kids, that’s still a few kids that will walk across the stage on graduation day who weren’t going to before,” NHS advisor Shane Smith said.

NHS mentors started Monday, Nov. 4 and is available to sophomores who are not on track to graduate. The mentors are a group of seniors who will help the mentees, by offering them the tools and advice to guide them through the year.

“I think it’s fun helping people, ” senior mentor Sydney Oprita said. “It makes me happy seeing them succeed and knowing I had an impact on it.”
