Participant of the French club event, sophomore Madison Bellman boards a bus to the AMC theater with her friend, sophomore Mina Metzler. “It sounded like a fun time,” Bellman said. “My plan was just to be able to hang out with friends.” She watched the show before, but decided to participate in the French club’s movie night with fellow classmates for fun.

French clubs from around the district met up for a cultural dinner and showing of “Luzia: Cirque du Soleil.”

“It was a good cultural experience because they got to taste some real French food prior to,” French teacher Daniel Wagner said.

On Oct. 29, French classes met up at Malow Junior High to eat an authentic French dinner. Attendees took a bus to AMC Forum to watch “Luzia: Cirque du Soleil,” a documentary about a French circus with French language involved.

“It was really nice to see ‘Cirque du Soleil’ in person a few years ago, so seeing another one of their shows was really cool,” sophomore Madison Bellman said.

The dinner served food, including crêpes and French sandwiches to further immerse themselves into the culture.

“It’s nice to get together with students from your own building,” principal Jared McEvoy said. “So when you can expand that opportunity to meet with students and teachers from other buildings, it gives you a different perspective.”
