As they all walk around the hallways finding their next session, the publications team attended field trip to Michigan Interscholastic Press Association. “[The best way to learn is by] book and newspaper info,” junior Chloe Pierce said. They went to three sessions throughout the day.

The publications staff traveled on a field trip to Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) on Oct. 31, which provided students with a great opportunity to learn new tips and tricks.

“I think it gives them a different perspective. It’s so much different learning about something when you’re actually experiencing it; it’s something tangible you can see it, you can smell it and you can touch it,” principal Jared McEvoy said.

The convention in East Lansing provided a series of sessions on different topics to learn about, like: designing pages, setting up newspapers articles, learning to use Photoshop and how to get people’s attention on social media. The publications attended MIPA to learn new skills.

“My favorite part is the bus rides because we all get to like jam out to music,” junior Chloe Pierce said. “You guys all get like closer when you guys have a long bus ride.”
