Dance Teams Take Orlando

The varsity dance team made history this season by going undefeated throughout the regular season and topped it off by winning a double national title.

Performing in two categories; hip hop and jazz, their weekend in Orlando was jam-packed. The dance program, including JV and the junior high Eaglettes, built a following under Coach Rachelle Kiehle’s 10-year guidance.

“They were relentless. They never gave up and when they wanted something, they stuck to it; hours of practice, not only during practice time, but at home as well. They care about one another a lot. This is the first ever double title for Eisenhower. Not many teams have achieved this,” varsity head coach Rachelle Kiehle said.

Their training consists of more than learning dances and running through their routines. They train weekly with teacher Holly Garrish and trainer Lance Long to execute strength and endurance workouts. This helps them become physically stronger for their routines.

“No matter if this team won 1st or 5th, I feel exactly the same about them: proud. They did all they could this year and they already won in my eyes before we even left. It was a special year from the start,” Kiehle said.

The varsity dance team created more than a win at nationals, they delivered a compelling performance.

“They gave people something to feel when they danced, both of their routines will never be forgotten” Kiehle said.

The JV team placed second in jazz and first in pom. Also, the Eaglettes made their entrance in their first year competing at Nationals.
