It’s Christmas morning and she can’t sit still.

Most kids are thinking about presents and Santa, but she keeps thinking about the question. Waiting and waiting for what seems like an eternity, they finish opening every present under the Christmas tree. He looks at her and she looks at him.  He asks, “Did you guys get everything you wanted?”

Without hesitation, young Payton takes the cue and looks to the girl’s mom and asks her if she will be his mom. Hayden follows stride, looks to the girl and says, “Jazzy, will you be my sister?” Jazmine answers by asking Jay if he will be her dad, already on the verge of tears, because she knows what comes next.

Jay gets down on one knee and asks the question that has not left Jazmine’s mind since he asked for her blessing the night before, “Mellie will you be my wife?”

Through the tears and the cheers, Melissa says yes and falls into his embrace. Jazmine watches the whole encounter beyond thrilled and beaming from ear to ear.

“Having the picture perfect family was now an option for me,” Jazmine says.

In an instance her family grew by not one, but three. Not only was she getting the dad she always wanted but a beautiful brother and sister as well.

Her and her mom’s life were forever changed. Jazmine knows how happy Jay makes her mother and she loves him all the more because of it.

Christmases will come and go but the Christmas that changed Jazmine Delbeke’s life will stay with her forever.
