Cheerleaders+make+a+change

Hair up, bows in. Cheerleaders are back and more determined than ever. After complications with varsity’s coach leaving early during sideline season, the team worked hard to move on with English teacher and former coach Holly Kralik stepping in to finish the season. Going into the new competitive season, they regained previous coach Ashleigh Schuette. The ball is now rolling on stunting and routines.

“We made sure that we didn’t let our coach leaving affect us on how hard we worked and how close we were as a team,” sophomore varsity cheeleader Caitlin Gough said. “We

kept our heads held high, always looked forward and hoped that something good would come out of a bad situation. And it did.”

The seniors rallied up the girls to make sure they bonded like a team. When members became discouraged, the seniors shared how things always get better, that this was only temporary and there is always a silver lining, according to sophomore varsity cheerleader Sam Weidl. Then, all pulling together, the members decided to put together more team dinners and sleepovers.

“The girls and I really liked hanging out together. Before practices we would stay after school, just so we could all be together,” Weidle said.

At competitions, they want to be known as the team who worked hard all season. They reached a point where goal setting was a necessity and are determined to reach
