National Honor Society hour check just around the corner

National Honor Society members prepare for the mid-year hour check that takes place on Jan. 5-7. Senior neophytes have to earn 16 hours, while returning seniors and juniors clock in eight hours.

Q: How have you been getting your NHS hours being that there is an influx of new members and everybody has been trying to get hours for the first hour check on January 5-7?

 

A: “Once you realize a signups been posted, you hope that it’s not been taken and you scramble to get hours. Teachers give out hours for after school help and tutoring and that goes on all year.

 

Q: Have you personally struggled to get hours this year due to the increase in members?

 

A: “Not particularly. It’s not that hard as long as you’re on top of it.”

Q: How does it feel to know you have to earn 8-16 hours before, depending on if you’re a neophyte or not, January 5th?

 

A: “It’s not that bad, but it is kind of stressful because you have to catch the hours right when they’re posted and also know how to manage your time for us who have a job.”

 

Q: How having you been getting your hours?

 

A: “I’ve been to the Octagon House and I tutor and mostly sponsored [events].”
