The Quiz Bowl team made it into the final four during their competition last weekend. “It was such an exciting experience,” junior Connor Schury said. Each member is proud of the progress they made through this season.

A team of intellectuals participated in the State Quiz Bowl Competition at Michigan State University on Friday the 17 and Saturday the 18.

“I am in quiz bowl because I get to learn new things that go beyond the school curriculum. I enjoy learning new things, and listening to all the answers,” sophomore Connor Cummins said.

When the students arrived at MSU Friday they had some time to kill before their first match so they visited the campus museum. After the museum they went to the union center to play their first match. The players won two rounds before losing to Okemos High School, and getting out for the day.

“After this loss we just relaxed because we beat every team who had previously beaten us in the regular season, and we did a lot better than any of us expected,” senior Connor Masini said.

Saturday afternoon the players went back to the union for the next match. They won a few rounds and progressed to the top six. When the team reached the top four they worked really hard and it was a close game, but they lost to St. Joseph High School by one question.

“I was a little frustrated because for every game we always start out a little slow, but then come back by the end and win. This time it wasn’t enough and we were too far behind,” Masini said.

Our team ended up getting fifth out of 28 teams. Each player performed very well and deserves recognition. The players are: sophomore Connor Cummins, junior Lily Schmidt, junior Connor Schury, junior Aaron Sieracki, junior Adam Sieracki, and senior Connor Masini.

“We all know each other really well, and we know who can answer what question the best. Each of us knows when to buzz or when to wait,” Masini said, “We have all become really good friends.”
