Students with a passion for computers, online gaming and new technology now have a place to learn, grow and meet others with the same interests with the return of the Computer club.

“I brought the club back because I actually saw it advertised around the school and then I found out that they were just old posters. It sounded really interesting and I’ve been into computers for a few years now, so I thought I would try and bring it back,” president senior Bryce DeJausserand said. “I also thought it would be good to prepare for a career in computer engineering.”

The club is run by a small student administration with the assistance of math teacher Mr. Straughen. With the president, vice president, and secretary elected, the club began to explore what it would like to focus on.

“Right now we are mostly focused on learning programming languages and getting better at game development, since all of us want to improve with it,” vice president junior Michael Nicks said.

The new Computer club provides the support needed to become well-rounded in the computer field to anyone, even with little experience.

“I’m most excited to learn how to read and manipulate code for games,” computer club member junior Nick Sobczak said. “It’s actually really fun to learn, and once you get the hang of it you can do all kinds of other things.”
