Project Unify

Next year, the Special Olympics is starting Project Unify, a organization that brings youth with and without intellectual disabilities together through education and athletics.

“This is something we’ve been talking about for a while and we really want the kids to come together and take advantage of the opportunity to create acceptance in the school community,” director John Morrison said.

Project Unify is made up of three main components, inclusive sports, youth leadership and advocacy and whole-school engagement.

“The organization brings all different kinds of kids together breaking down the barriers of stereotypes,” Special Ed department teacher Kristin Oprita said. “I encourage all students to take part in this wonderful club.”
