With thousands of hours and over two terabytes of footage, the Advanced Film class captures the seniors’ voices in a documentary style senior video.
“The senior video is mainly about our perspective on our high school experience. I feel like the past senior videos didn’t really capture that. I just want to show and let everybody know to appreciate their moment in high school,” senior head film editor Lennon Lee said.
The senior video started its production the first day of school. Art and film teacher Christina Dawson and advanced film students started by pitching ideas and turning them into reality. Compiling knowledge and editing techniques, students covered the best moments of senior year in videos, photos and interviews.
“Most people don’t know the purpose of it until they actually see it. Actually, witnessing it on the final day will really strike you with a lot of emotions,” senior Jordan Serafimovski said.
Lee hopes his message of appreciation for high school spreads to fellow classmates who watch the film.
“Staying organized and on top of everything is key because if you’re not, then it’s not going to be done on time,” Dawson said.
Working together helped students gain more experience with collaboration. Many students working on the film did previous projects, putting much of their passion into encapsulating senior year.
“Lennon really wanted to bring forth their voice as a student body and not just be a collaboration of memories,” Dawson said.
With this documentary style format, they capture the true high school experience.
“I kind of hope they cry because it’s an emotional and very bittersweet thing,” Lee said. “I want everybody to feel some sort of emotion after watching.”
