Displaying her National French Honor Society certificate, sophomore Julie Proffitt feels glad she joined. “I chose to join NFHS because I truly love the French language,” Proffitt said.

Dozens of French students were honored last week as they were inducted into the National French Honor Society (NFHS).

“I am honored to be a part of such a great group of people,” sophomore French III student Julie Proffitt said. “It’s a great way to bring together everyone who loves French language and culture.”

NFHS is a national organization for high school students who have maintained exceptional grades in French courses.

Members are required to have maintained an A- average in the most recent semester of the French course, as well as having maintained a B- average in all other courses.

NFHS was created by the American Association of Teachers of French — the world’s largest French teachers’ association.

“It is a real privilege to be in NFHS,” Proffitt said. “Everyone in it works really hard and has a real passion for the language.”
