Yearbook wins CSPA award

On Feb. 12, 2014, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) announced their Yearbook and Digital Media Gold Circle winners.

Among those winners was senior Senior Section Editor Jaden Henderson and senior staffer Miranda Persichetti. They received an honorable mention on their spread of senior photos from last year’s yearbook.

CSPA has been recognizing students for their achievements since 1984. This year, Henderson and Persichetti were two of 4,279 entries.

“I’m honored to win this award because yearbook usually isn’t recognized for what we do,” Henderson said. “It feels good knowing that what we do in yearbook does pay off.”

Only 794 students were recognized for either first, second or third place or for Certificates of Merit for those deemed worthy of honorable mention in a category.

“I think it’s amazing that our kids can compete on a national level. While I’m always impressed and proud of them, I’m not surprised,” yearbook adviser Erica Kincannon said. “Our publications students are dedicated and they work hard to produce quality student run publications that they and the community can be proud of.”
