C.A.R.E. about Cancer

The C.A.R.E. Club prepares for their up-and-coming meeting and welcomes their new members.

Sitting in nearly every hallway, the CARE club posters are hung up along the walls. The CARE club is a brand new club at school, the club sponsors are Craig Pajak and Melissa Minton. Their first meeting is scheduled on March 7, 2023 in room 111. The CARE club has a Remind you can join and an Instagram you can follow to stay updated.

Fundraisers, fun events, making blankets and bake sales are all events the Cancer Aid Reaches Everyone (C.A.R.E.) club hosts to help support young kids who deal with life threatening diseases.

“We do this to of course help provide money, which is used in many different ways but, we always love to spread joy to kids who don’t usually get to experience much joy,” junior club Co-president Melanija Ilijevski said

The C.A.R.E club donates all of their profit from the fundraisers to the St. John Ascension Hospital in Grosse Pointe. All the profit is used to create blankets, purchase toys, and provide for the patients with cancer to help uplift their mood before and after treatments.

“My favorite thing to do for the C.A.R.E. Club would definitely have to be the help we give to others in need, I relate to the others in need,” junior club Co-president Nicholas Opperman said.

The club plans on meeting twice a month, their first meeting is scheduled for March 8. The meeting will be held in Craig Pajak’s room, 111. Pajak and Melissa Minton are the class sponsors for the C.A.R.E. club.

“My family members have dealt with cancer, this club means a lot to me so I am glad I got to be one of the Co-presidents of it,” Opperman said.

Information for joining the club can be found all around the school. The main hallways such as: English, Math, and Science house a majority of the posters with the Remind code on them. Joining the club is a great cause, it can help many people get through rough treatments and put a smile on their face.
