Thoroughly Modern Millie

As she rehearses her routine, sophomore Kaitlyn Cody clicks her shiny black tap shoes along to the upbeat song “Forget about the Boy,” while preparing for the spring musical, “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

“I like how it’s such a large group of people who get to come together and make new friends,” Cody said.

While she practices with the cast everyday after school, she also prepares by taking dance classes at Rhythm Point Dance Academy.

“I am really excited,” Cody said. “I love tap dancing. I have been tap dancing since I was two, so for me to be able to do something like this is really exciting because I can use it towards something.”

Questions and Answers

What are you excited about in this musical and why?

“I’m excited about this musical, because it is a great cast this year; there’s a lot of talent; and it’s not only just in the people they picked for the leads, it’s also in the chorus. I’m just thrilled to not only hear the music, but see the whole show put together.” Catherine Krapfl ‘14

What do you think will be the most challenging part of this musical?

“Getting it all together very quickly. Usually you have more than two months and we are already behind with snow days, but I know it will all come together because they all have in the past.” Lilian Schmidt ‘16

How would you describe “Thoroughly Modern Millie?”

“It’s really fun. There’s a lot of dancing, which is a new thing; because last year there was absolutely no dancing in the musical and it was really depressing and everybody died. This one is a lot more upbeat and fun and it’s in the 1920s.” McKenzie Allen ‘15
