Less homework for all
Giving students less homework can help lower stress levels and exhaustion
Ugh! More homework equals more stress; being a student is hard with all of the negative effects that come along with it.
With the 21st century school and homework dynamic, stress is at an all-time high for students and teachers. Students wonder why they are so tired and try to find a counselor or therapist for help, when the real cure is less homework.
More than 80 percent of students that were conducted in an experiment say that they experienced physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, sleep deprivation, weight loss, and stomach problems, according to “Is Too Much Homework Bad for Kids’ Health?”
School causes a decline in mental health as well as physical health. When a student is stressed, they cannot do anything but think about it, leading to exhaustion. That exhaustion can take a toll on your body, straining you physically, etc.
When having students do homework for many hours after school, know that some students resort to cheating or cramming it in at night, making them tired in the morning. Although teachers think that giving homework is good for the students to know the material and have practice, the students can just learn the material during class, no need for after school work.
Teachers love to teach, but not to grade. When they realize that they have to grade all of the papers after school, they wonder why they even assigned those assignments in the first place, according to “The Truth about Teacher Overtime- How Many Hours Teachers Actually Work.”
All in all, students and teachers do not benefit from homework, so teachers should give less assignments. The whole student body should go to the next board meeting to peacefully protest against homework after school.
