Junior Michael ‘Mike’ Zontini is known as babyMike on Spotify, student by day, Spotify music star by night.
Currently, he offers one album and three singles. He has accumulated 1,716 followers and roughly 53 listeners per month.
“My favorite part about making music is probably listening to it and hearing what I made,” he said.
In the beginning, his style of rap resembled Detroit rap. Now, however, his music is closer to Atlanta and Miami-type rap.
“What I like about the process is showing my creativity through my songs,” Zontini said.
Zontini started his career with the help of Tony Boga and Tony Lujaraj. They helped him for two years, developing his style. While he mainly works on rap and hip-hop music, Zontini also produces more melodic music.
“At first, I was being taught, and then someone who I looked up to as like a big brother,” Zontini said. “He was really good, and he taught me for about two or three years.”
Zontini records music at Parallel Sound Studio, and his musical engineer, Boga, helps him with his voice levels and how low Zontini’s voice can reach.
“A lot of times, I prioritize music over homework and sometimes I spend my whole weekend at the studio,” Zontini said.
Zontini started working on his music at 14, but he started recording covers of other songs at 13.
“My music represents loyalty, music, and family,” he said. “My new music is more serious. At first, my music was about partying and now I just talk about things that are happening in my life.”
