Seniors are finally reaching the end of the school year and are struggling to stay focused.

The last semester for seniors is a bittersweet feeling; pushing through and finishing classes is a struggle that is well known to some Eisenhower seniors.

“It’s really hard for me to stay focused on school work, when I am getting ready to go off to college and my life around me is changing a lot,” senior Isabella Lumetta said.

According to collegestats.org, senioritis is the decreased motivation toward studies displayed by students who are nearing the end of their high school, college, and graduate school careers, or the end of the school year in general. The term “senioritis” circles throughout the school’s seniors as the school year comes to an end.

“Honestly I’m just waiting to graduate because I am just about done with this school year, getting up for school and pushing through the day is becoming harder and harder,” senior Alexandra Gjokaj said.

Often during this time, many seniors are found to have given up. Statistically, 1.2 million students in the United States drop out in the second semester, according to dosomething.org.

“There is a lot of pressure to keep up with all my classes, when genuinely I am quite over high school and I am just ready to graduate,” senior Jacob Razook said.

Even though the pressure is on at the moment, it is important even when feeling hopeless to push forward and realize the end of the school year is closer than recognized. Senior year is almost a wrap, and the life for these seniors is just about to take off.

“Although I’m struggling to find interest within school” senior Riley Dupke said “I am really excited for all the senior year activities that are coming up”.
