Valentine’s special

A delicious sugar cookie recipe to make for special occasions

After decorating the cookies, senior Shea Hathcock lets her family taste test. “I loved them,” Hathcock’s mother Shannon Hathcock said. “I want her to make them for my staff as gifts.” The family enjoyed the cookies and plan to make them as gifts as well as for themselves.

With Valentine’s day coming up, a simple sugar cookie recipe can make the perfect gift.

The homemade sugar cookies turned out amazing and pleased many others. In total, it took about an hour to make the dough, bake and decorate.

As a decently experienced baker, the multiple steps were simple and easy to produce. It takes patience, but once accomplished, it’s worth all the work.

A trip to the store was needed for a few items on the ingredients list, due to lack of planning. It took longer than planned, but it wasn’t a burden.

The preparation time took about 30 minutes to mix all the ingredients and to cut out all the shapes. The cooking time was only ten minutes and cooling time took another ten minutes. Lastly, decorating time took about five minutes, however, the decoration time varies depending on the desired look.

The sugar cookies have a subtle almond and vanilla taste. Also, the frosting and the thick sugar cookie blend together perfectly and taste almost like the ones bought from Christine’s Cakes and Pastries.

With following the directions to perfection, the cookies will turn out great. This being said the recipe is recommended to anyone who is creative and has some time to spare. The Valentine’s Day sugar cookies bake up to a 5 out of 5.
