Wrapping up Toys for Tots
The school community came together to raise funds to donate approximately 3,200 toys for Toys for Tots.
“This years Toys for Tots program was a huge success,” said Christian Kennedy. senior Toys for Tots head. “I couldn’t be more proud of how things went and how everyone worked together for such a great cause.”
The annual telethon took place on Dec. 3 and allowed Student Council to add 1,100 toys to their overall donation. During the six 13 minute time slots, 42 classes donated for the cause.
“I saved up money for the telethon. I kept it all until sixth hour to try and win the Tigers tickets,” junior Victoria Hall said. “It felt so nice to participate with an organization that can put smiles on so many young kids faces.”
After the telethon, Marines picked up all the donated toys on Dec. 12. Student Council helped them fill up a moving truck, which is the size equivalent to two Marine trucks.
“My favorite part of donating to Toys for Tots is when you see the Marines drive away with trucks full of toys,” said Mackenzie Meckl, junior Student Council representative. “I’m glad we helped out such a good cause every year.”
Your donation will support the student journalists of Eisenhower High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
