Students prepare for the future
Homework in five classes. Dance for four hours. Dinner with the family. Sophomore Bella Cvetanovski maintains a rigorous schedule in hopes she will be prepared to attend Michigan State when it’s her time to graduate.
“Kids in clubs and activities have many social benefits and are able to understand how organizations work, which helps them in the future, especially when applying for college and jobs,” counselor Jim Allen said.
Kids who participate in such activities are better off than those who don’t, according to publicagenda.org. Based on the students surveyed, results show activities ranging from sports, art, music and church programs play a crucial and positive role in the lives of 85 percent of participants.
For students who wish to apply themselves more in school, the key is to look at different organizations they would like to try out, according to Allen. Sports, clubs, honor societies, tutoring opportunities and AP/honors classes are provided to help students in school be prepared for the future.
“As president of the French Club, I’ve learned how to be more comfortable working with other people and has helped me gain experience as a leader in real world situations,” said senior Cherry Pie Dialogo.
In addition to school related activities and classes outside of school opportunities that include working at a job, an internship or helping as a volunteer.
“Being a full time student in advanced classes, and extra activities on the side, like Varsity Dance gets pretty busy,” Cvetnanovski said, “but I know in my future I will be better prepared to face any challenges that come my way.”
