5 things missed from the November NHS meeting
The following are five things that the members missed from the November National Honors Society (NHS) meeting.
1. Hours Opportunities
This month NHS has many new opportunities to obtain hours. The first opportunity, tutoring, has sign up sheets available on the NHS door outside of the office. Other opportunities include work with the Octagon House, After School Assistance Program (ASAP) and being an NHS mentor.
2. Holiday Hours
The opportunities for holiday hours are available. Volunteering chances include the Angel’s Touch blankets, the giving tree and Adopt-a-Family. The giving tree option is a maximum of one hour. St. Jude’s Walk is on Nov. 23 at Lakeside Mall. All NHS members are required to have at least two holiday hours.
3. Juniors Only
Attention Juniors, the NHS board is looking for a Relay for Life Coordinator. Also, there is a NHS Junior Board Member position. If interested in this position, an application needs to be filled out. This application can be found outside of the NHS office. Juniors are expected to step up for these positions.
4. Pre-approved hours
Make sure to get hours pre-approved before the event happens.
5. Attending volunteer events
Once members schedule an event and sign up for it, they are expected
